Farmers Lose Money Due to GMOs

The study analysed corn yields in United States and found that farmers who continued to grow conventional corn actually earned more money over a 14-year period than those who cultivated genetically engineered varieties. Organic farmers earn even more.

Corporate criminals like Monsanto, who produce the toxic chemicals to go along with their toxic franken-seeds, tell farmers that they will lose money and drive themselvels into bankruptcy if they don’t use their patented GM seed-chemical package.

Many farmers who don’t buy into the corporate lies are bullied and sued for patent infringement. Farmers who don’t sign contracts with Monsatano report being put under surveillance and intimidated by goons. In fact, it was recently revealed that Monsatano had contracted with the infamous Blackwater Security (XE) to investigate and harass farmers that opposed or resisted GMO crops.

The genetic modifications in corn is primarily to produce the Bt toxin. In nature, the toxin is produced by Bacillus thuringiensis (or Bt) which is a Gram-positive, soil-dwelling bacterium that is closely related to the bacteria responsible for anthrax. The Bt toxin is intended to kill the corn borer worm but the worm is already building up an immunity to the toxin.

Bt corn contains the toxin in every cell. When humans consume Bt corn they often experience an allergic reaction. Repeated exposure to the toxin can compromise the immune system and lead to other allergies and auto-immune disorders such a fibromyalgia.

Since the introduction of Bt corn into the food chain, allergy rates in children have skyrocketed.

The dominat trait genetically engineered in soy is for resistance to the extremely hazardous herbicide glyphosate (Roundup). Numerous studies have shown that the herbicide causes birth defects, radically alters soil biology and leads to soil infertility and crop loss.

A human feeding study showed that the DNA from GM soy transferred to the bacteria in the human digestive tract. No studies have been conducted to determine if the same type of genetic transfer occurs from eating GM corn. Companies that genetically engineer crops are not required to do any real safety testing of their products nor will they allow anyone else to do so. Using their patented seeds for safety testing is a patent violation.
